Our Approach

Dr. Maria Montessori stated that children learn from observing the adults around them.

A large part of education is the intangible aspect of the child’s personality and we at Nivriti display the values and characteristics that we would like to see reflected in the child. The child is spoken to softly and gently and his/her opinions are always respected. Every child in the environment is treated equally and loved as we believe that learning happens when there is freedom to explore and happiness to express.

We are a Montessori community based on the inspirational working model of ‘learning for life’. This method of teaching provides an environment especially designed for the child such that the child has access to everything in it. This methodology invites children to work with concrete materials that are scientifically designed to provide them with an opportunity to learn academic concepts sensorially along with life skills. Since research proves that children between 0-6 years of age are sensorially oriented and their learning takes place by using the senses of touch, taste, sight, hearing and smell, each activity in the environment has a mix of most of these senses. The first orientation is towards basic sensorial contact and then it moves towards a level of abstraction.

The space where the child ‘works’ is kept clean and the materials on the shelves cater to the developmental needs of the child. The children work in a mixed age group that helps learning by observing each other and promotes social skills in terms of communication and collaboration.

Parent community: We believe that the success of this approach lies in the home and the school environment complementing each other in terms of basic framework set for the child to support and enhance his growth and development. We encourage an active parent community which aides the school in cultural activities as well as contributes to the development of the community as a whole.
